Dinner...

Hola!

Quick note about dinner last night – and truly, it was anything BUT memorable, but, with “truth in blogging” campaign, here it goes!  Our restaurant last night was literally just a few steps from our front-door, and called Restaurante Medieval.  We were able to take photos of their menu (one in English for tapas) and their Spanish full meals as well.  Ate inside, next to the front window, and had the place to ourselves, again quite literally, because (of course) we were there as soon as they opened for dinner, at 8 pm.  (Uncivilized time for dinner I’ve always thought; that’s about the time I’m thinking about going to bed!).

R ordered their “revuelto” with gambas (shrimp) and mushrooms – turns out it’s scrambled eggs with shrimp and mushrooms, and it was very good!  My starter was white asparagus with white mayonnaise, also very tasty, although I wasn’t sure what to do with the green lettuce on the plate.  For mains, R had their trout – took him a while to bone, but he said it was good.  I had their chicken breast – pounded flat and fried with no batter or sauce whatsoever!  A terribly white plate, to be sure!  And – surprise! – it tasted like chicken!  There were also a few French fries.  For dessert, I had their “pre-made” vanilla ice cream in a plastic container with a bit of chocolate sauce on it.  Hmmm…And this was the #12 restaurant out of 146 in TOWN?  Prospects don’t look good for the next couple of days, that’s for sure!  I am still hopeful of finding a really nice place for our 40th Anniversary, but am thinking we may just wait to Porto to celebrate if last night’s dinner is anything to go by!  So! That was it!

But OH, I am forgetting – last night!  Turns out that the place across the street from our bedroom “wing” had live music last night – that went on until almost midnight!  Can’t wait to see what happens tonight, with tomorrow being Saturday!  At any rate, with all windows (double glazed) being shut, and all the doors closed, we could still plainly hear the music.  I went to sleep on the couch, which was about as far away as I could get, with ear plugs in, and R woke me up when they were finally finished (about 11:30).  Truly, if we had had ANY idea this would even be an issue, we would have chosen another place to stay!  Certainly does not bode well for renting, that’s for sure!

Lots of love for now!
