Oh, my … dinner was incredible! Tripadvisor had given Mu! (the Argentinian restaurant) an incredible review; something like #42 out of 10,450! And I’m here to tell you they deserve every accolade that’s going! They don’t take reservations, so we wandered in around 4:30 pm, just about the time we’re figuring most Madrid folks would be thinking about possibly a glass of wine. The place is really, really casual. There was something like 7-8 tables, and we were lucky enough to get one without any wait at all. The menu was given to us, and the first thing on it was their “meal” which we both ended up having. So, for €14.90 each, here is what we had:
My chocolate on chocolate dessert! My wonderful skirt steak R's flank steak and his portion of the chips! Amazing beef empanada!
Appetizer – we both picked the beef empanadas, and they were spectacular, served with Chimichurri sauce. After that, you can pick either the ribs, skirt or flank steak or chicken (but we came for beef, after all!) and then dessert – ice cream, cream caramel or coffee (???)
all served with either a glass of wine or beer, or a soft drink. Oh, and don’t forget the really good bread! Really? You’re kidding, right? What’s the catch?? Well, if there is a catch, we didn’t find it! Every single thing was fabulous – although we both thought that my skirt steak was a bit better than R’s flank steak; more tender and juicier.
We’re still shaking our heads at the prices and the quality – if we lived in Madrid we’d be “regulars!” We’re going to try to get back there one more time on this trip, for SURE!
So – looks like it’ll actually be an early night! Yeah!!
More tomorrow!
Much love,
m
